Strategic Intelligence Analyst

Lead analytical production on assigned coverage areas — sovereign credit, capital flows, sectoral intelligence, or geopolitical risk — across the Africa–Western institutional corridor. Briefs, Reports, and Alerts produced under your name in the analyst desk.

Responsibilities

What you'll do.

  • Own analytical coverage of a defined sector or jurisdictional portfolio across ELDR's published research output.
  • Produce ELDR Briefs (5–10 minute reads), contribute to ELDR Reports (Vol.-level deep research), and respond to client-mandated intelligence engagements.
  • Maintain coverage in line with ELDR's six-layer sourcing methodology: open-source intelligence, regulatory analysis, market monitoring, policy tracking, sector intelligence, and institutional interviews.
  • Develop and maintain a network of named institutional sources across coverage jurisdictions, with strict source-protection protocols.
  • Calibrate analytical output to ELDR's published standards: sourced and citable, dated and versioned, scenario-structured, decision-calibrated.
  • Represent the firm in selected institutional client briefings and analyst calls.
Requirements

What we look for.

  • 4–7 years of analytical production experience in institutional research, intelligence, advisory, or comparable environments where work has been published and stood up to scrutiny.
  • Demonstrated capacity to produce structured analytical output — published research, regulator-facing analyses, institutional client briefings, or comparable evidence.
  • Direct working familiarity with at least one of: sovereign credit analysis, regulatory frameworks across African or international jurisdictions, energy or financial systems sector intelligence, or political risk methodology.
  • Strong written English. Working capacity in French, Portuguese, or African languages relevant to coverage areas is an advantage.
  • Comfort operating across time zones and across institutional cultures.
Qualifications

Educational & professional credentials.

  • Master's degree (or equivalent professional experience) in a discipline relevant to the coverage area — economics, political science, public policy, international affairs, law, or technical fields.
  • Specialist certifications in relevant domains (CFA, CAIA, sector-specific risk certifications) are considered.
  • Demonstrated analytical writing: published articles, peer-reviewed work, professional research output, or comparable.
